Bajo el Volcán es un documental de creación en torno al desarraigo. Los personajes (como los recuerdos) no tienen cuerpo, son voces fantasmales, que entran y salen durante la noche hablando siempre sobre algo que no podemos ver, que ya no está ahí. La película pretende abrir preguntas sobre migrar y el olvido; ¿cómo nos relacionamos con el pasado de un lugar del cual nos hemos ido? ¿y si en vez de recordar, necesitaramos olvidar? ¿Qué pasa cuando un lugar sólo existe en la memoria de unos pocos, siendo ésta tan frágil?

There are places that are all “past”. Like this one, where at night ghosts come out talking about a long gone life that has been erased by time; childhood, fears, until finally comes oblivion.

Under the Volcano is a creative documentary about the uprooting of a family. The characters (as memories) don’t have a body; they are ghostly voices that come out at night, always talking about something we can’t see, that is no longer there. The film aims to ask questions around migrating and oblivion: How do we relate to the past of a place we have left?

If instead of remembering, we needed to forget?
What happens when a place only exists in the memory of a few?
